I’m born 1956 in Switzerland. My time as child was very enthusiastic; I was a lot of my free time in forests and the fields. Here I learned to see the nature with some other eyes. It was a big pleasure for me to observe a birth family caring their children. Later one I joined the Judo club near my village. In relative a short time I got the black belt. I learned the profession as painter and decoration painter.
Later on I joined the school for building construction management. Some how at a nice day my hands picked up the book of Peter Adams. As I saw this nice tree’s a new love was born. Quick I tried the things Peter is mention in his booklet. I learned that it worked. In 1980 Ulrich Dietiker here in Switzerland, The Pioneer in Bonsai, exhibited Bonsai on a big plant show in Basel first time. I visited this show and saw first time in my life real Bonsai. From this time I start to work on myself. To understand Bonsai. I have to say I didn’t have it so far. I feel awestruck working on an old yamadori. I know I cannot change his habit neither his character, the only thing I can do is to give him a nice “shape” in the eyes of the people. The body is build by the nature we have to learn that we never will be a hero, we are just butlers. I hope everybody understood this and work with the tree in the same way. I have already visited China and Japan to see how Bonsai are cared. I worked in workshops with Dan Barton, Kimura and learned from them how to create trees. Today it is a pleasure for me to share my knowledge with other Bonsai enthusiasts.
